Can you use short and longs in a LR revolver?

I know this is a stupid question, but if you can use shorts and longs in a lever action that shoots long rifle, why can't you use them in a revolver that's chambered for long rifle?

Yep. Be prepared to have to scrub the chambers vigorously for a while after shooting Shorts before you can easily chamber a Long Rifle. Crud builds up in the chamber just ahead of where the brass ends, and will after a bit gum up or prevent the use of LR's until removed.

I have heard of forcing cone erosion problems if you do a whole lot of this.

I'm sure it would take quite a bit, though.

Generally, I'd go ahead do it without worrying about too much, if shooting shorts/longs was what I wanted to do. YMMV.

Yep.
Easy to get the crud out. Just fill it with empty, fired, .22 LR cases...once and you'r done.

Do your serious cleanin when convenient.

I'm experiencing greater accuracy with shorts in my tack-driver. The downside is, they're not normally in stock at the Wally World, and are more expensive than LR when you find them(though not by much).
