Has anyone ever tried to mount the rear sight from a 1903A3 onto a mauser? Can it be done? Does it turn out to be something useful? Would it require complicated gunsmith work? Thanks
It would seem like a lot of work to cut the dovetail. Mausers are made of tough stuff.
If all you want is a peepsight on the rear receiver ring, get a Lyman or Williams peepsight for the Mauser and have the receiver drilled & tapped for it. Might need to cut the stock for it also. You end up with a better sight, too - finer windage adjustments and a way better elevation adjustment.
