I need a new barral for my M-1 garand as the end of the barrel has been worn out(probably cleaning rod damage) The gun is a Springfield Armory built in 1941. Where can I get a new barrel and is it hard to swap out?

Thanks
Daren

Midway has them for $149. They are not hard to change but unless you have the proper vises and headspace gauges it is best to have your local smitty do the job.

They can set you up with GI barrels, (as well as Krieger, Hart and other bbls), installation and headspacing, along with a bunch of other goodies that you should really have!

Best of all, they can help you find a crap detector: they have alot of info about some of the products that are out there, and their advice is usually pretty accurate, plentiful, and FREE!

Daren,

The best deal is at Champions Choice, just outside of Nashville.

They will sell you a Douglas Match Grade barrel for your M1 in 30-06 or .308 and INSTALL it for the paltry sum of only $195.00.

These folks cater to highpower shooters and know their stuff. A couple of guys in my local club have done this and really like the results.

Best,
Swampy

But insist on having your original returned to you. As a restoration job, you can always have the barrel bored out and relined.

BTW, swapping out the Garand barrel also requires a timing gauge to ensure alignment btwn bbl & gas cylinder.
