I have read a couple of the threads about the ATFs new proposals on banning shotguns on the grounds that they are not suitable for "sporting purposes". Many people are worried that tactical style guns such has the Rem 870 or Mossberg 500 may be banned from domestic manufacture being that they have a bore greater than .50'' and can therefore be declared as destructive devices. Do you really think that the ATF could get away with banning these? I know in the past they have done the same thing with guns like the Striker 12 and the USAS-12 but these guns aren't nearly as common as the ones mentioned above therefore many more people will be affected by the ban.

Wow great post and suprised I'm the first to respond. My understanding is this applies to imports only. That said it is the first step to ban whatever they want. None of my guns are for "sporting purposes" Any firearm I own is a multi purpose tool, and can be used to feed as well as defend myself and others.
