I think I've made up my mind to purchase a new (or used) Browning Hi-Power... but can someone tell me the differences between the 3 styles I've seen? Is there anything other than the hammer, finish and sights? Are all the same basic functioning?

Thanks again...

The Practical has Pachmyr grips, which have that rubbery sticky feel. I replaced these with factory hard plastic stocks. It comes with fixed sights and is a tasteful two tone.

The Mark III has adjustable sights, as does the Capitan. The Mark III has hard plastic stocks, while the Capitan has walnut.

They all have the same trigger, barrel length, and safety.

MkIIIs also came in fixed sights. IIRC, what distinguishes them from the MkIs and MkIIs is the firingpin stop of the action bar, the ambi-extended safety, and dovetailed front sight.

Oh, external extractor also.
