Can someone talk me out of a Springfield 1911?

Because if you can't I may go put it in layaway this weekend.
Fulllsize "loaded" NIB with the most killer green finish on it, like the ones Wilson does. Also is it true that the last 2 numbers in the serial are the order in which the gun was produced ie 01 was the first?

Not sure about the serial number thing, but I'm not gonna try to talk someone out of something they've already talked themselves into!

That's a quality pistol. You'll be a happy camper unless I miss my guess.

Take a look at the Matchmaster.

Go to the retail catalog. I have a Springfield and this and the Matchmaster is a better buy. For about the same money it`s tighter, fits my hand better, and shoots better than the Spfld.

Not very popular, you may have to look around for a dealer, but it`s worth it.

(watch swinging from chain) "look into my eyes, you dont want guns...you want to give them all to me..."

Get it, if you can afford it. It sounds like a great gun.

Shoot well

Can't help you here....got a Springfield Loaded Stainless, which is a tack driver and has been totally reliable so far. It fed the notorious 1911-choking wide-mouthed Magtech Gold HPs out of the box without any hiccups. Shoots nice, goes "bang" when trigger is pulled, and looks mighty purdy:

VTVols . . .

I have a bunch (at least by my standards) of outstanding .45 ACP semiautomatics, including: (1) a Glock 36, (2) a Sig P220, (3) an H&K USP Tactical, (4) a pre World War II Colt MilSpec 1911A1, (5) a Kimber full-size stainless Custom/Classic; (6) a stainless Springfield loaded 1911A1 (old "blocky" style), and (7) a full-size "Armory Kote" Springfield TRP 1911A1,

If I were compelled to get rid of all but two -- Heaven forbid -- the last I would retain would be the two Springfields. That's how much I like the Springfields, and they run include a relatively "low end" and a relatively "high end" product.

The other 1911A1s and .45s cited above are great firearms; I am not "bashing" any of them. But the Springfields are my top choice. Buy one and you will be most satisfied.

Sorry cant help you. I bought a Mil Spec yesterday. I am going to customize it. (yes I will post pics when I am done) I shot it last night at a Mini IPSC match my range holds every day. Darn if it wasnt dead on accurate and super reliable even weak hand only shooting(this is really impressive because I generally limp wrist at least once during weak hand stages.)

SA makes good guns. Plus I think that green is COOL

I would not talk anyone out of a Springfield.I have a V12 stainless that I love.I did have a problem with the barrel.I sent the gun back and in two weeks it was back tome with a new barrel.

All I can tell you is that the Springfield I have has been an absolute joy to own and shoot. It's my first 1911 so I can't make any comparisons with the other brands (almost bought a Kimber, but the Springfield was more "feature-rich" for the same price), but I really like the gun and have had no problems of any kind with it.

Rick

I'm not going to talk you out of it. In fact I'm leaving work in about 20 minutes to buy one myself :D Full Size Loaded Stainless model. It's a shame I have to wait another 7 days to acually walk out of the store with it :(

Springfield all the way!

TRP has approx 2500 rds through it, only 3 ftf (from out of spec reloads), feeds everything with the mags supplied with it, shoots
great (a touch low).

Steve.

Thanks ya'll
the price I can get it for is something like $620.
I know they are "loaded" but I always felt like a Sig or a Walther was worth that, not a 1911. Then I saw this Green color and
I hope it's still there when I go back.
