Can someone recommend a case lock?

Can anyone advise a way to lock a hard case?

There are 2 holes near the latches that frankly look really thin. Someone with a knife could jab at the plastic for awhile and completely cut off the tabs, bypassing the lock.

Is there a good belt-type or clasp that will better secure the case?

I'd just use the existing holes. A strap/belt can be cut, a hasp popped off with a screwdriver, and more likely, the case can be just picked up and taken. If your worry is about airline baggage handlers, you may as well use the holes. Those baggage guys can get though anything.
 
I use american lock company locks.

Any case could be defeated if enough effort is put forth. Pelican is about the best polymer there is. Just make sure to lock both sides.


They only keep the semi-honest honest.
I can pick almost any padlock or deadbolt and many car locks. I used to unlock things as a truck mechanic for a fee, cheaper than a locksmith. However it's not the most efficient way, destruction is the easiest way to defeat something. Polymer can be tricky. Some hardened locks can snap easily..
