Can someone from Oz check this??

At the Hornady site they have some links to major anti sites so that interested parties can know our enemy. On one site there is a new study from Oz that claims major reductions in almost all types of crime since the introduction of strict gun control. Could someone please check out their claims and tell us what is the truth of the matter?

If I can get this entered right

G'day Bergie

This is a classic case of "lies, damned lies, and statistics".

Philip Alpers (a Kiwi, not an Aussie incidentally), is not, as the headline suggests, a "policy researcher". He is a lying, vicious, scheming anti-gun bag of s**t who will do his best to take the guns off everyone -- including you in America. (He has already presented papers at several UN anti-gun seminars in the US, Canada and Europe).

I'm no statistician, but I think you would find the statistics here -- http://www.ssaa.org.au/gunleg.html -- very interesting.

He either distorts or lies.

Thanks Bruce,
I had no idea who the author is. I figured it was a propaganda piece as it contradicted all of the other statistics that I had seen reported. I didn't know if this guys stats were completely made up, or just extremely distorted in the manner of HCI interpretations of CDC data here in the U.S.
I don't know if you took any time to look at any of the other b.s. they have up at prepcom, but there is a lot of info on ngo participation in U.N. affairs especially on the attempts to stop "trafficking in light arms" (in other words prohibiting the legal ownership of firearms by law-abiding citizens around the world) thinly disguised as an attempt to bring peace to the world. If just one of these clowns could logically demonstrate how my right to own a gun could possibly have any effect on the slaughter that has been going on in the Congo region or elsewhere in the world I would listen to him politely, and then tell him to go stuff himself as it makes no difference on the existence of my right.

Sorry if I came across a bit sharp in my reply ;) I was actually in the office and didn't have much time for a response.

Alpers is an a**hole. He enjoys slating gunowners and wallows in self-satisfaction when reporting anti-gun victories.

I don't think he makes up his stats, but he certainly does a "CDC" on them.

Re the UN: Yes, our SSAA (our version of the NRA) has also achieved NGO status. Unfortunately, that gives them little "clout".

The UN is a big worry (or should be) to gunowners worldwide. It is my opinion (for what it's worth) that they are attempting TOTAL world disarmament (civilian, military and police) except for their own forces. That would truly make them a "World Government". (And, hey -- I don't even believe in the "New World Order" conspiracy!!! My belief is just an observation of fact based on their own reports).

If the gunowners of the USA back down now, or become fragmented, the last bastion of freedom to own a gun (as if anyone needs "permission!!!) will have fallen.

I'm sorry my country caved in so easily -- but in our defence, we were caught flatfooted -- we only had 12 days, and no-one can mobilise sufficient response in that time unless they are forewarned.

Cheers
Bruce

I've had a bit of correspondence with Phil Alpers. He is, as Bruce says, very smug and supercilious with his approach to the issues.
He claims to be "a shooter" but was asked to leave a rifle club in Auckland NZ after discharging two rounds into the floor!
I would recommend careful analysis of any of his data, as his goal is sophistry rather than accuracy.

In Queensland'which is part of Australia-there has been no decrease in crime--of any
sort--in the past three years. All crime has
increased,as is the fashion these days.
I believe it will continue to do so.
There is a reluctance here to carry out
proper policing.That is catching offenders
while they are young and sorting them out
early.
The Judges are hamstrung by liberal laws that
stop them from giving suitable sentences.
They should know that criminals are just that
--they do crime--and they don't care what
anyone says about it---all they care about is
whether they get caught---and they hate the
idea of doing a long lag in prison.
The solution is to catch more of them and
sooner, then lock them up for longer.
