Can I use the M1 Carbine for this?

I want to Register for a junior shooting clinic that teaches the basics of competitive shooting, how to clean your riflw, shooting better, etc. But I'm not sure if the Rifle I want to use is permitted. Permitted rifles are as follows, M-1, M-14, and M-16. I'm not sure If it permits carbines as well as Garands. I will post the Web site below. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The program states it's for the Highpower Matches.
The M1 carbine doesn't have the power or range to do that, so it's not included.
There's plenty of other clinics that would probably welcome it, though.
Like the Appleseed project, NRA general rifle clinics, local hunting classes, 'etc.

Aguila- Ol' Mosin speaks and writes pretty good for his age, doesn't he? I was suprised too. He seems like a good feller that'll be a sure welcome to the shooting world and TFL.

Is that 14 human years, or dog years?
But seriously,
What are your goals with the High Power clinic?
To become a better, all around rifleman?
Or to seriously be involved with the High Power matches and competition?
If it's the latter, the quality of the gun will, out of necessity, need to be of a higher order than for personal improvement.
Just a thought.

Mosin,

I think that link to the Bushmaster DCM rifle is expired.

I have one that I got through CMP in 2004 (I think) and it has served me well. It is not "special" in the sense of being one of the best competitive AR-15s out there, but it is good enough that when I hold right and break the shot without flinching, twitching, or moving - it is a 10 or an X. It is on its third barrel and I still shoot it - across-the-course and Midrange.

And 14 may be young but it is a great time to start! Your eyes still work - I don't care if you are nearsighted or farsighted, your lenses are still flexible enough that you can see the sights and target. This will not always be true, so use them now to develop your skill, and when they don't work so well you will still be able to shoot.

Apropos of age, you should also know that there was a young lady who shot at our club who was the highest ranking Junior in Texas until she turned 18 (and was no longer a Junior), and last year earned her CMP Distinguished Rifleman badge - something that some of us will never achieve.

So start now and enjoy!
