Can I Repaint A "Rubbery" Stock

Im wondering if there is any way I can paint the stock on my Weatherby Vanguard HB-ST.

The stock has their "Silent-Tek" finish on it, and it is sort of rubbery. Not unlike the new remington stocks on the VTR and other models.

I dont think it can be sanded, unless I sanded it all down to the plastic stock underneath :/

Anyone know how It could be repainted?
 
Painting rubber or synthetic rubber-like materials is almost impossible.

First, paints just don't adhere to rubbery surfaces very well.
Second, the soft rubbery material will expand and contract, and flex. Since most paints dry hard, the paint will crack and just fall off.

There's possibly some sort of specialty coating that you can use. I'd do some deep Goggle searches to find out what's available that might work.

I suspect that any coating that will bond to that surface also liquifies it.

You may be able to use a decal(s). There is vinyl print media that will adhere to rubberized surfaces, and it's thin and flexible. A shop that does adhesive vinyl printing would know.
 
You might try automotive bumper paint. It comes in many colors and is made to stick to flexable plastic surfaces.
