Can I convert this Thompson?

I just purchased a Thompson that was mfg. in 84. I was inquiring about the feasibilty of having it converted by a class 2/3 dealer. I know this is probably a no brainer, but humor me.

I doubt it.
The ATF has too many regulations to attend to that the project just isnt worth the effort.

SFAIK, nothing manufactured after the cut-off date in 1986--and "converted" = "manufactured"--can enter into civilian ownership.

If you are thinking of legally converting a semi-auto Thompson to full auto, forget it. Art is correct, there is no way to do it for civilian use. An auto weapons manufacturer can do it for police or military sales, or for its own use, but otherwise, manufacture/import of auto weapons (including that kind of conversion) for civilian use ended in 1986.
