Can I buy a gun out of state?

I've searched & didn't see anything pertaining to NJ.

I know I can't buy a pistol out of state, but can I buy a long gun in PA, DE or MD & bring it home to NJ or would I have to have it shipped to a FFL in NJ?
 
You can buy a long gun in any state as long as that states rules AND the rules of your home state for the purchase are followed.

You can purchase a handgun out of state, but it MUST be shipped to an FFL in YOUR home state.
You can ONLY take possession from an FFL in your home state.
 
As long as the rifle is legal in NJ you can purchase from states noted. They'll require to see your FID card and will do NICS check. Phila Armory Show is next weekend.
