Can FN FAL magazines be modified to fit Vepr - or vice versa?

Does anyone know legal and technical aspects of converting Vepr .308 to accept FAL magazines OR FAL mags to fit into Vepr?

you would have to increase the US part count on the rifle to 10 then it would be a US made rifle and >10 round legal.

a couple have been made up this way...

Galil magazines are quite expensive. FAL magazines are cheap. Hence the interest in converting the Vepr. I asked about converting magazines instead to see if that would be easier legally.

That way the rifle can be legally imported

I gather the modifications to fit a galil mag were less difficult than FAL mags

i believe modifing the mag without getting 10 us parts in the rifle would be quite illegal.

I liek AK design but wonder if Vepr could be practical for me at $45 per 10-round magazine (I'd have at least $500 just in mags vs. $100 in FAL 20-rounders with twice the number of rounds).

You might be able to find someone to modify the VEPR trunion and mag catch to fit FAL mags.

Does the VEPR have a pistol grip/thumbhole? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a muzzle attachment of any kind and, if so, the 10 imported parts clause may not factor in.
