can do rifle deer, bear, hogs

I think the 35 remington with the 200 gr bullet will handle all three with ease. Hopefully they keep making the factory loads and don't stop. Because I don't reload. Has anyone ever shoot all 3 critters with a 35 remington? I have one marlin 336 that I will be using on them.

No!, but i,ve anchored all three of them with a old Marlin 30.30, so a .35 ought to be good to go.

Just a question. Whats wrong with a Scoped 3006? it can take out all of the animals you mentioned, and at longer ranges.
Just wondering.

You're right in that 30-06 will do a really good job but here in NE Fl we seldom have need for such. My .35 Rem is lighter, shorter, kicks less ( Yes I'm a recoil sissy. ) and does less meat damage.

In other places it's be a poor choice but here it's all you need.

I know a high school teacher who only has the one gun and he uses it for everything from Elk to rabbit so I would have to say yes it will work.

I second the 45-70 With 500gr you could stop all most anything. I cant speak for the bears but I can for deer and hogs. It put them down hard.

Not many cf calibers that won't do that job. I know, exclude some puny ones like 25-20. But the world is your oyster otherwise.

Depends where you live but Id go for 45-70 or .270, the .270 is good on more open areas out west due to its extremely flat trajectory and if loaded properly hits with just as much power as a 30-06. The 45-70 is good out to shorter distances but will most likely cause more damage, especially these days with hard cast loads, I read about this guy hunting water buffalo in africa which are one hell of a creature. One guy went for a heart shot and broke both of its shoulder blades and it was DTR, the other one was a frontal shot, it went all the way from its chest to its pelvic area supposedly, definatly dont under estimate a cartridge like that.

i hope they don't stop making it either. my dad took 2 whitetail deer and a black bear with the .35 rem from a marlin lever rifle. grandad took a whitetail as well. i'd feel comfortable using my marlin in .35 rem on either of the 3.

I use a 06 on most stuff. But Deerhunter also has a great one. I reload for my cousins .270 Model 700 very accurate rifle, and not bad on the recoil. I would have got one myself but already had the 06. Reloading for it was fun used his rifle so I could get the best out of it, and I was impressed. It shot way better than I could.

since you have a .35 remington, I don't think you need to buy a new gun in any of the suggested calibers. I'd definitely use a good weight retaining bullet on bear and especially hog.

I'm basing this on the assumption that you aren't in the rockies or alaska, home of giant black bears, or some area that has hogs the size of cows running everywhere.

Bears around here range around 150-200 pounds. Hogs are ordinary.

30/06 is what i used for years and still use.

I also would suggest the 300 win mag when longer ranges are a common occurance, but since you are in florida i would say 30/30 or the 35 remmy.

I have taken plenty of hogs and deer with a 30/30 and would use it without hesitation on black bear.

if you plan on hunting in grizzly country get the 35 or a 45/70.

Yes, but obviously, he needs to be told that his choice was wrong. This is the internet.

Just to repeat myself, though, I still think that the .35 remington is adequate for his purposes under normal circumstances on normal sized game. At about 2k fps, I look at it as being a shoot across the crick rifle for most things.
