Can Bush win a recount?

I think Kimber Man has it right. As we have seen posted here before: in the words of Joseph Stalin, "Those who vote decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything."

Bush wins a fair recount

If you take the undercount numbers by county shown on the Real Clear Politics website and assume that any new votes from the undercounts get allocated proportionally to the way the counted vote split between the two candidates, then Bush wins with a comfortable margin statewide.

Remember, the Democrats already cherry picked their best counties, except for Pinellas and Polk. Most of what is left should favor Bush if the recount is fair. Look at Duval and Collier counties, for example.

Unfortunately the Gore counties all seem to use punch cards to tabulate votes, which we have all seen are open easily to vote fraud. Some of the Bush counties use optical readers - like Scantron test - which will be easier to read and therfore less likely to be tampered with.

Well, from what I've seen, they'll keep recounting until they win.

What I don't understand - DO I HAVE TO VOTE? I mean, shouldn't it be okay for me to walk in, make my choices for governor, senator, whatever, and then leave the presidential unmarked because I don't like any of the candidates? Or is that construed as wanting to vote for the guy willing to scream the loudest?

Fortuneatly, the US Supreme Court has just issued a stay stopping the recounts. The Court will hear oral arguments on Monday, December 11th.

Donkeys Don't Play by the Rules

Have you ever seen a donkey play by the rules? They will win, or devalue the office and Bush. They push Bush to counter their moves, but they have an eye to public opinion. Bush's counters may place the Republicans in a bad PR position. Smart guys, those donkeys. They will be screaming about how he refused to count the votes. The only way that it could get worse is if they find a way to say that it is "for the children".
