Ok fellas, I have read alot of these posts and find alot of your information to be very knowledgeable, and I have on question for whoever. I am very new to turkey hunting, as in, never been. I think first step is to buy a shotgun obviously. I am only wanting to spend up to $400-$450, but hopefully less. Can someone please direct me to maybe a few good choices then their own personal preference and why they chose what they did. I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Use the search feature to bring up old stuff on 870s, 500s, 1300s and 37s.

My choice is the 870. Right now, 870 Expresses are on sale at big box stores for around $225 or so. Get one with a flat finish, camo is nice but not essential.

The 870 Express Turkey model has a flat black finish, comes with a tight choke and will last longer than any of us here.

Get one, read the archives, and BA/UU/R.

HTH....

i use a maverick 12ga that is made by mossberg, it cost about 150 and i have had no problems with it yet, the bad point of this gun is it is not camo, i had to paint it myself. becarefull with this gun, shooting 3 mags hurts like hell because it is wieghs so little.

I would go with the 870 as well. I shoot 3" for turkey, but some like the 3.5's. You can get a SuperMag that will shoot any of them for less than $300, and have one of the hardest working guns out there.
