I am looking to purchase a savage model 24 o/u .22 20 gauge for small game hunting. I just want to make sure it can handle modern ammo. After purchase i would take it to a trusted gun smith and have it checked over before firing.
I'm currently working on a 24m for a neighbor's step daughter,, It's going to be her "squirrel rifle"/ "rabbit shooter", its a .22/410. It fire's all kind of ammo very well at this point.
The over/under savage/stevens combos are great weapons as well as they are fun to hunt or plink with. However, having a used weapon checked by a qualified gunsmith can't hurt. Has anyone had a chance to try one of the new ones thay are advertising???
Thanks for all the answers!!! I did look at the new model 42 but I dont think its available yet. I couldnt find it for sale anywhere, only articles about it.
This was my first gun at 12 years old, I'm now 52. Been a Great Gun, shot many Pheasants, rabbits, and squirrels. Even shot a good sized white tail doe with it. I will keep this gun forever, .22/20 gauge is ideal!!
