Can a gun warp time?

In November I posted a question about the durability of a series 70 1911. The responses led me to take it in to my gunsmith to have a new one fitted. It was to take 6 weeks (after he got thru with the hunting guns)

I think it will be ready Friday.

It has been my experience that many gunsmiths live in their own space/time continium (sp?) very little like our own. :)

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

I once had a smith here make a Commander model 45 for me with a Caspian frame and a all the bells and whistles. A year and a half later it still wasn't done. I never bought it.

I took a rifle to my smith for a scopemount drill/tap. He said he'd get to it tomorrow (there were a lotta guns already in the rack waiting). I went back the day after, and he said that what should have taken about 20-30 minutes, wound up taking 7-1/2 hours. There was no way to "jig" this rifle, it had to be completely disassembled to do the job. (drill & tap 2 little holes). Only charged me the thirty bucks that he'd estimated. :p
