Can a gun-smith re-ream an old .22 revolver

One of my friends has an old S&W 17 which must have been out of tune sometime so that the firing pin struck the edges of the chambers. That leads to difficulties with loading and extraction. Can I fix that by using a Dremel with a small tip to remove the burrs or should I bring it in to a gunsmith...and if so, how much should I expect the fix to cost?

Out of time? Most of the time, the peened cylinders are just due to dry firing the gun. Do you mean the damage is off-center? I'd have to wonder how the rounds ever got out the barrel! :)

Oleg, I don't recommend the dremel. Most smiths will have a swaging tool made just for this. You can probably figure on $30 to $50 depending on who does it. George
