Can 870P factory rifle sights be removed?

Not easily.

Both the front and rear bases are brazed on the barrel, and removing them is a BIG pain.

Remington REALLY put the bases on to STAY.

Basically, you can heat the barrel to a red heat until the braze melts, or you can cut and file the bases off.

Due to the chance of damaging it from the high heat, the need to re-polish the inside of the barrel, and the cost of having a pro do it, I recommend either cutting or just buying a new, plain barrel.

If you do the cutting and filing yourself as a cost-saver, you could then have the new front sight installed and the barrel refinished.

However you do it, once the barrel is set up with the new front sight, all you have to do then is have the receiver drilled and tapped for the rear sight.
