Campaign Finance Reform VS RKBA

Let me see if I have this straight; If you illegally take communist chinese campaign donations, you don't get prosecuted, just calls for Campaign Finance Reform.
If you shake down a bunch of Buddist monks in a money laundering scheme you don't get prosecuted, just calls for Campaign Finance Reform.
If you pardon known fugitives, you don't get prosecuted, just calls for Campaign Finance Reform.
If you illegally obtain a gun, and commit a crime, you don't get prosecuted under current laws, just calls for more gun control.
Here is the reason I brought this up, the Liberal Media is pushing Campaign Finance Reform, to effectively silence groups like NRA, GOA, and others.
Who is the NRA, GOA, ETC? its us. who will be silenced? US!
If you are active in keeping gun rights, I hope you look at the Campaign Finance Reform issue, IMHO its a great way for the Liberals to shut us up, gag the gun groups, and take your First Amendment rights, along with your Second.
Leading the charge for Campaign Finance Reform is senator mccain, and while he is pushing that, he also is pushing a new gun control package with senator liberalman, usual stuff, gun show loophole, etc.
If you are active, remember Campaign Finance Reform is going to be as big a threat to RKBA as any gun control law.

McCain is a poltical transvestite. His bill is a full frontal assault on the First Amendment: it regulates political speech. What other forms of speech are more important in a republic? So it should come as no surprise that he holds the Second in equal disdain. I have no idea what drives the man, but if it's contagious I want a vaccination.

Here is the hidden deal of so-called campaign finance reform. Under certain versions, issue ads would be banned some two months before the election. This means that folks like you and me couldn't get our li'l gun club to pool money together to buy ad time at the local budget radio station or to rent a billboard.

The result is that we would have to rely on the largesse of the media to invite us on their TV or radio shows to speak our minds. If they don't, we have to depend on them to get our message out.

It would make the media very, very powerful.

The very same arguements used for campaign finance reform were used to support the passage of the 17th amendment. Funny thing is that the 17th didnt quite do the trick. As a matter of fact, Senators now must raise even MORE money to be competitive. There is an obvious solution to the mess right under everyone's nose. REDUCE THE SIZE AND POWER OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

You see, when the size and power are reduced, there is no longer any reason to contribute large sums to candidates, because let's be clear: the only reason one gives large sums is to either 1: buy protection from adverse government actions, or 2: Buy influence so that you can encourage adverse government actions to be inflicted on your competitor/adversary.

If government has very little influence because it is limited to those things listed in Art.1, sec 8, (eighteen things as I count them and 3 federal crimes), there will be no need to do either 1 or 2.

John McCain knows the solution too, but he doesn't care. He knows that the surest way to guarantee easy elections in the future is to stiffle competition and free speech.

This is a great thread, and I will now get off the net and write my congressman so that he knows my take on CFR.

If only we could do that, seems like a great idea, and it is exactly what the Founding Fathers wrote into the constitution. Handouts at every level of the government have created a split vote in our country, where at every level, the majority of Americans have somthing to loose from a reduced government.
Add up all the people and corporations on wealth redistribution programs, than add all the people who work for the government, redistributing wealth, administering these programs, and its easy to see the small government folks like us are greatly outnumbered.
I would bet that there is no one who doesn't have a family member caught in this vicious circle.
Its dis-heartening.
Small Government, simple laws that are effective, a people guided more by basic morals that extensive laws, an end to confiscatory taxes, and a national understanding that the right to self defense is an unalienable right. Sounds like Utopia,.... OR what was envisioned for us in the beginning.

The FINAL Solution

Part of the "final solution" to government is to eliminate the 16th amendment. This would eliminate governments power to tax income and cut off the "beasts" food supply. If the government has no money to spend on welfare (corporate and otherwise) and no money to enforce idiotic policies, people won't be voting for the party that gives them the most tax money in return.

We need a tax revolution in this country. People need to wake up and see how much they're paying the government. If everyone had to sit down every year and write a check out to the government, there would have been a tax revolt long ago.

Of course, there needs to be a major overhaul.
