Camp Carbines

I have a chance to get a Camp carbine in 45 ACP for a great price. I do not know much about these rifles I am looking for anyone who has had experiences with these rifles eithier good or bad. How are these carbines for accuracy? I am talking about at 100 yards and closer.

I have one in 9mm, and it is fun to shoot, and tolerably accurate. I had a friend shoot it in a two day tactical/urban type rifle class, and she did well with it. The stock didn't seem to be quite right from the point of view of getting a comfortable cheek weld, and it got to be a bit uncomfortable by the second day.

Camp Carbines are fun if not tackdrivers. They are not currently being made in .45 so if you can get it for a good price I would go for it.

I'll second TT's comment. I have one in .45ACP and it is acceptably accurate and fun to shoot. The only thing that bothers me at all is that it throws brass about 20 ft. If you reload and don't pay attention to where you are thowing brass, you are going to lose a lot of it.

I think the Camp 45's are great and I reccomend getting one if you can. I put a spare red dot scope on mine and it really turned into a fun gun. I have found them to be exceptionally accurate out to 100 yds. I usually shoot 200 gr SWCL lead bullets and they shoot great. Working at 100 yds with the red dot scope (hard to do since it has a bigger dot) I was able to keep a 10 rd mag fo lead 200 SWC's under 3". I am sure if I used a regular scope I could improve on that, along with some better ammo.

As John mentioned, they really throw the brass but there is something you can do about it. Wolff Gunsprings http://www.gunsprings.com makes a 21 lb. recoil (I think the factory is 11 lb. ?) spring that relly makes a difference in recoil and keeps the brass from flying too far.

I had a 9mm Camp Carbine that worked great with good (S&W) mags and was useless with cheap (USA) mags. At 40 yards it would put 5 147gr SXTs in one hole. Not too shabby.
