Calling Romanian .22 owners

I'm trying to find out who all has these. I've had mine for about 2 yrs now. I'd like to know what anyone has done to theirs. There's no aftrmarket except universal parts but I'd like to know what other manufacturers parts may fit. I need scope rings, and I'd like to find a magazine that holds more than 5 rnds...

Post Pics of your Romanian m1969 Trainer .22 if ya got 'em!

I've got one but I don't have any pictures of it. I know of no source for aftermarket parts or magazines.

I believe that the airgun scope rings sold by Beeman will fit, but I don't have any to try.

I picked one up about 4-5 year ago $69 well spent. My Romy spends most of it's time behind the seat of my pickup, the gun is accurate with a wide range of .22lr ammo from .22 CB longs to 60grn Aguilla ss.
I had to refinish the stock, it was quite ugly. It took awhile to get the lead out of the barrel, and after that I realized I had something.
I don't plan to scope mine, but it would be nice to know it's potential.

I bought one for my son. Liked it so much I bought another for me. One had problems feeding. Turns out it was a burr on the bolt where the ejector (which is also the firing pin) slides. 5 min of filing restored it to perfect function. Diagnosis was provided by TFL, IIRC.

I have one and my brother has one as well. Mine works great, but his has a screwed up feed ramp and it does not feed. We paid 45.00 each and have had that much fun with them at least.

but his has a screwed up feed ramp and it does not feed.
His may have the same problem mine had. Its not the feed ramp, its the firing pin/ejector failing to retract as the bolt goes forward. The ejector then traps the base of the round to be fed and prevents it from feeding.

Have him slowly move the bolt back and forward. If the ejector doesn't FIRMLY retract as the bolt goes forward, he's got the burr in the bolt that prevents that pin from retracting.

Or, when he gets a misfeed, look to see whether the firing pin/ejector is sticking out over the base of the round that wouldn't feed.

If he sees that, feel free to PM me for more info on how to fix that. I hate to think there's a Romy out there that's not feeding properly.

It's the feed ramp for sure, the bolt works the way it is supposed to. The feed ramp is down to far and the round catches on the sharp edge that the feed ramp should cover.

He can ram the round in but half the bullet will be hacked off, I just need to fix the feed ramp. But mine works so lets just say his rifle is not on the top of my to do list.

Quick but ugly fix would be to degrease the area, put a glob of JB Weld in there and shape it with a file after it dries.

My chamber also has a bit of a cutout near the feedramp--perhaps it's missing in his rifle?

It's pretty common for the bolt-release to get worn and fail to engage the ejector on feeding with these rifles.

An easy fix is to file a more positive "catch" on the ejector, smooth the sides so it floats easily in the channel it rides in, and also file a "notch" on the bolt release to engage the ejector.

I have a few of these rifles, and they're great guns for the $$. I found a truly MINT one at Dunhams a few years ago, after cleaning it up it looks positively new, and is very very accurate.

Another neat Romanian trainer are the Cugir single shot guns, very very accurate if you can find them in good shape.

I've got two magazine rifles, and a single shot 27inch heavy barrel model.
All are great shooters.

In fact at the range one time some of the guys with those expensive Anshutz and such rifles had a chuckle when I showed up with my $95.00 Romanian single shot. They stopped laughing when we put some money on the table and my cheapo out shot all of them. Walked away with enough to buy several bricks of .22s to do some more practicing with.

Priceless :D

I have three. One of them had the aforementioned problem with the ejector getting stuck.

I had to smooth out the channel that it rides in for it to function.

Mine are extremely accurate.

I checkered one, the other two just got refinished.
