calling all smith snubbie experts

I tried the search function since there are numerous threads on this but it is not working and I need the info while my gun is at the smith....as far as an action job goes for a 442, do I need to have springs changed/cut for it to really make a difference...i wanted to just go with a polish and keep the internals stock.

Personal...
I like stock hammer spring and maby lightned return spring on my war guns.
Some of my target and/or game guns are lightned a lot.

Polish and deburr by a competent Smith smith is always good.

The "slicking" part is fine.

The spring question always engenders much debate.

One school claims ANY lightened spring is "unreliable".
The other school says shoot a couple hundred rounds to make sure it fires.

I prefer the "buy a Wolfe or Trapper spring kit and see" theory. You can always put the original spring back.

All of my defensive revolvers have lightened main and trigger return springs in them, along with action jobs (which I do myself).

To date, I haven't had any problems with Wolfe reduced power mainsprings, but I know people who have. Only adequate function shooting will tell you if your gun is one of the ones that will be reliable or not.

I'd love to try the spring thing but altering them would be out of dept. policy so I have to leave the springs alone...so it looks like I will just do a nice polish....for a belly gun it should be fine....by the way guys...on a chrome gun do you recommend a black insert over a colored one?

Warning Warning, test that nemesis holster out real well before you carry the snubbie in it. I have two nemisis holsters one for my snubbie (model 36) and one for my G-26 glock. The glock works great, cant say enough good things about the nemisis for the Glock.

The Nemesis for my 36 cs/ I was sitting crossed my legs and the 36 fell out on the floor at the restaurant. Also fell out at home on my sofa.

I have the leather desantis pocket holster for the model 36 cs also, It works great. I have been carring the leather one for 1.5 years and its never lost the gun.

Advice send the nemesis back, get the leather desantis pocket holster, its $36 and well worth it.

The stiff return spring is what allowed Ed McGivern (prolly Miculek, also) to shoot 6 shots in 2/5 second. The limitations of the Colt DA mechanism would not allow all the speed McGivern was capable of. Jes a thot.

The problem I found with the nemesis for revolvers is that the nylon inside the holster combined with the rounded cylinder of a revolver caused the revo to slip out sometimes when seated.

This is not a problem with flat automatics.

Imagine the conversation starter when at a relatives house for thanksgiving and suddenly,

THUNK,

Your gun falls out on the floor infront of all.

Your four year old proudly proclaims:

"Thats my daddy's real gun, he uses it to protect us from monsters."

Next is the big crash when your mother in-law faints dead away.
