Calling all DALY DDA Owners!

There is a local gun show next weekend, and while I'm sure I'll attend I'm not sure if I have decided to part with some of my Christmas, birthday & bonus money yet.

BUT... while I certainly have no real need for another handgun, I am thinking it may be time for this conservative, traditional (meaning "metal") handgun enthusiast to purchase a major caliber Tupperware gun. (I do have a KelTec P32 that I bought "very right" used).

How do you like yours? I've done a search thru the forum but have only found a few posts concerning the gun. I believe StratfordHoldings acquired one to replace a PT145, & Pointblank2K has one too but I can't seem to find many opinions either pro or con.

So if I find one at the right price - $300 or so - would it be a recommended buy? Also - what caliber did you buy? My present battery consists of both .45ACP & .40S&W.

Thanks.....

Kevinch,
I looked for responses about the DDA 10 45 and got the same results...the DDA's are made by BUL of Israel...they make some very tricked out 1911 style .45's...I bought the DDA without knowing alot about it and other than the slide locking open while there's still ammo in the mag (about every 3 clips) it is extremely accurate and pleasant to shoot...I contacted KBI (distributor) and told them about my problem...they said I have a lifetime warranty and they will pay to have the gun shipped BOTH WAYS! that was very surprising...so far the customer service has been excellent...and if they fix the problem i've been having the $299.00 I spent on it will be well worth it...it is built very solid...at this point I am a little disapointed that I had a problem right out of the box but I feel confidant that they will remedy the problem,
Tony.

Hi, I have shot Tony's DDA .45. Internally it is a cz clone. The trigger on his DDA out of the box is better than my cz75b. It probably is about 4lbs and breaks cleanly with no creep. One thing I don't like about it though is the way the rear sight is mounted. The sight is polymer which is okay but it is held down by an allen screw. The way it is set up the you can't adjust the sight for windage, there is just one position. Also the front sight is part of the slide and not dovetailed so there is no adjustment there either. So if you get a pistol that shoots left or right of point of aim you will be out of luck. Tony's DDA is accurate and shoots to point of aim so it doesn't matter but I thougt I would point this out. I have fired Stratford's and it is a nice handgun. It's pink... but it's pretty cool. It aims well, and hits where it is aimed. It isn't bad at all.

What about reliability?

I am interested in one as well, as a lawful concealed carry weapon. Obviously, reliability is the primary concern for me. I'd like to know how that slide stop problem works out.

Stratfordholdings has been very helpful in relating his experience to me -- are there any other opinions?

I know that Gun Tests had a lot of reliability problems with the one they tested, but no one else has reported that here.

Since the rear sight cut-out is flat, I wonder if it would be easy to adapt an adjustrable rear sight from another handgun to the DDA? Like a Contender sight, perhaps? I don't know, I'm just guessing that it might fit. Surely someone who knows more pistols could suggest one with a flat base. At most, it would require tapping the screw hole to a larger size.

DCmorris 71,
I will be sending it off on thursday...I will let you know how it works after I get it back and shoot it,
Tony.
P.S. I bought 2 extra mags from GU Wholesale for 4.50 ea! they have them listed at 10.00 but when I called to order them they said they were 4.50...with shipping the total was only about 15.00

Pointblank, can you give me the webaddress or phone number so I can order some mags? If they're 4.50 a piece, I should get 10 of them. :D

Seems like I don't really have a problem with it. After George Hill was firing it, it went where he aimed. It's funny how all my shots were consistently in the same place. I'll just have to live with that. My USP though, shoots where I want it to.

The trigger is nice on the DDA, much nicer than the PT145. Right now it will be my back-up gun if I ever get my holster.

Thanks for the website address. I just ordered 10 magazines for my fuscia pink. :D Heck, they weren't $10 as listed on the web site. They weren't even $4.50 as listed by Pointblank. This time when I called they were $4.00 a piece so I just had to pick up 10. I don't know what I'll do with 10, but I'm sure I'll think of something.
