What's your go-to ammo for your 45acp revolver?? Got my first 625 coming in next week. And I want us to get off to a good start;)

250gr RN, HP or Keith style cast bullets with an unspecified amount of Unique make my go too load from any of the models 25, 625 or 22.

My favorite is a 200 gr LSWC. You also need to pick up a bunch of moonclips and preload them before heading out to shoot. You will really be surprised how fast you can go through a few boxes of ammo. Enjoy a very nice gun.

I never even thought about developing a special load for my 625. It's a 625 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt that uses moon clips so that it can shoot .45 ACP. So I DO shoot a lot of .45 ACP in it but I tend to just pick up my standard load. 230 grain FMJ. AA #5 powder.

Two very accurate and comfortable loads:

Acura 200 RN / 4.1 Clays / 722 fps / SD 19

Precision Delta 230 gr FMJ / 4.0 Clays / 751 fps / SD 14

Both loads are nice for DA rapid fire.

My 625 likes about anything that I put through it. I shoot a lot of hard ball for practice; hjowever, for serious work I use Hornaday's 200 grain XTP. I took out a boar usint the Hornady bullet.

The chamber throats on my 625 JM are .452 and it doesn't shoot .451 jacketed bullets as well as I like.It shoots cast .452 LSWC bullets great with 5 grains of AA #2

I've yet to find a Smith M-25, 625, or 1911 that didn't like any quality 200 gr LTWC, sized .452" and pushed long by 5.2 gr of Winchester 231 or HP-38. Rod (30 Cal's Dad)

I like 200 gr. Hornady FMJ-CT bullets loaded in .45 Auto Rim cases with Federal F150 primers with mild loads of WW231. They are very accurate in all of my .45 ACP/AR revos, S&W 625 and Ruger .45 NMBH. I use the same dies and settings on my Dillon, and only switch shell plates to load .45 ACP or .45 AR. I prefer .45 AR because I don’t want to bother using moon clips for shooting on the range. When I have shot the .45s in IPSC, the moon clips work well for speed reloads.

200 grain cast RNFP with bullseye, Winchester 231 or Hodgdon HP-38 at modest velocity. Great shooting and mild recoil.
