Calling 911 in a fringe zone?

If one lives in a fringe zone for cellphones and a BG has cut the landline wire, would ham radio or CB be better to call for help?

Licenses aren't a problem.

Along the line of Eric's question.
You going to schedule your emergency?

That said. Though the density of operators would be thinner, the hugely greater area reached would make me lean toward HAM.

Takes time. Use the radio after you have prepared to stop BG.

Same with phone. Prepare you and yours.....then phone.

Who would be monitoring either of those and in a position to make the call for you?
Whoever's within earshot and knows how to handle a mayday. The alternative is to listen to the cellphone beep in protest.

Depends on the band and the propagation, if you're depending on skip. Though we do have repeater coverage, come to think of it.
