I'm having a "Brain Fart"!

In order to NOT be considered an "Assault Rifle", can it have only 1, or 2 of the Evil features".

Detachable mag.
Pistol grip.
Bayonet lug.
Flash supressor.
Folding stock.
Etc.

Any center fire rifle with the a removable magazine that hold more than 10 rounds, and has any of those things you listed is classified as an assault rifle, except for the bayonet lug, wich I beleive isn't illegal in CA. I thinks its still illegal federally though.

Actually, I don't think that the mag has to hold more than 10 ... just has to be detachable. The ten round thing is for fixed mags and for the removable mags themselves. The lug is OK in CA and it also does count for the feds, but I think you need 2 from the feds' list.

"California legal"...Next to Adolph Hitler, the two most despised words in the English language. Everytime I see or hear that phrase the sound of fingernails being drug across a chalkboard interrupts my train of thought.

They should just hyphenate the phrase and say what they really mean, "neutered".

Reread the law...

It says semi-auto with detachable magazine which has...

That's why I converted a poor shooting M-1 Garand into an "almost" evil gun. With its new barrel featuring a M-1D sleeve (for a surplus M-84 scope), it also features a pistol grip, grenade-launching muzzle brake, bayonet mount and soon to be added bipod. Guess what? Because it's clip and not magazine fed, it's perfectly legal in the Kommunistic State of ours.
