California campaign trick

The latest trick in California political mailers seems to be a voters guide for your party and then a list of recommendations for the non-partisan voter propositions that are opposite of what most party members would be for.

For instance, my mailers had a big picture of George Bush, with recommendations for all the Republicans running down to the Assemblyman level. Then on the propositions like 39 (which wants to change the state constitution that requires 66% approval to pass school property tax increases to 55%) the voter guide says vote Yes on 39 for accountibility and resposibility with no mention of the fact that it is designed to make raising taxes easier. Of course how many Republicans are for making increasing taxes easier?

I got about six different versions of this in the mail. They don't come from the Republican party but from organizations that you never heard of.

Something tricky is afoot.

Mr. Pub,
My wife pointed this out to me last night.
We have received what appears to be Republican voting guides that are in conflict whth each other, however when you read the fine print you discover that they are from some organization that no one has heard of.
