'"undetectable knife" means any knife or other instrument with or without a handguard'

Don't forget butter knifes and metal shoe horns. Nice silverware settings? SORRY! Turn them into the state for a redemption factor of 0.10 to the dollar.

As long as your Onieda butter knife is detectable by a metal detector set at standard calibration you are OK

Getting caught with a plastic ruler may be problematic in certain senarios.

Getting caught loaning a Red Rider to the boyscout next door is an actual issue.

A pencil, or pen could be covered by this.. It is a stabbing instrument without a handguard that can cause great bodily harm, and even death, that is "undetectable" by a metal detector set to the standard calibration.

Oh god, now everyone will be a felon in Cali!

As far as "commercially manufactured to be used as a weapon", when has something ever been marketed as a weapon, other than to the military???? I dont think there has been 1 item marketed as a weapon to the general public.

California is completely out of control! I'm sorry, I've been to California a number of times, north to south, and it's a great state (wildlife, landscape, Napa Valley, kool beaches, etc.). However, between the mind-blowing cost of living and excruciating levels of state and local government repression/regulation, I cannot imagine any circumstance where I would ever want to live there (or in a number of the other states hammered on the site...Mass,etc.)

It won't change as long as you "roll over." Maybe you would lose in court, but you should try. Until then I have only limited sympathy. Jerry
