I am not new to 1911's I've had a 1991 since the late 90s and it's still my only 45. While the gun was a jamo matic outa the box it's been fairly reliable as long as I don't run it dry with handloads and factory ammo. I've been considering another 45 and I see that a lot of the 1911 platforms will be dropping off the commie approved list with new mag safety and loaded chamber indicater b.s. requirements for future sales in the once golden state. When I saw Ruger had brought out their 1911 for about $700! I was so excited I thought that's on the must have now list for my second 1911! Unfortunately, it's not commie approved and unless this crappy law limiting california's gets thrown out it is in fact a ban on this awsome variation of the most beloved auto in U.S. history..... So I started to peruse what other 1911 guns are currently "approved" that I may aquire before I will be "banned" from buying another traditional 1911 in the future. I want more bells and whistles for the next one. I absolutely love the feel of the 1911. I prefer flat mainspring housing and kimber type grip safety without the obtusive bump. I haven't been very impressed with some of crappy looking beavertails on some of the colts that I've handled and like the feel of the kimbers. I would prefer a traditional extractor for which common parts are readily available and dovetailed low snag combat sights. I know Kimber and S&W have monkeyed with different extractor variations in their 1911's. I prefer a full size 5" gun to a commader. I'm not real comfortable with the more squared grip profile of the springfield although I'm not sure if they are all made with the sharp edge. I am open to stainless or other finishes. I don't need a rail but those look interesting. My buddy bought the ARMSCORP loaded model and now that he's had dovetailed sights installed he's probably up in the $800-$900 range Nightsights are not a must have but would be nice. So given the confusing variety of 1911's that are still for sale in CA, which model would you choose?? rc
