I bought the Walkers Alpha muffs a while back and experienced the headband breakage and eventual squeal from one of the cups, as others reported. However, I did really enjoy the sound compression circuitry that doesn't shut off like other muffs in the price range.
So to the point I discovered the Caldwell G3 muffs and found they also compress instead of cut out. The headband is much sturdier and so far have worked well at the range. The volume buttons are a bit difficult to use though.
Just thought I'd point these out for those looking for <$100 units that won't simply shut off every time a gun is fired.
