CA-why no politically correct AK variants?

I am a bit confused about something. In Kalifornia, we can not have evil guns like the AR15 because of the deadly pistol grip AND detachable magazine feature. These are illegal and very bad. However, Ruger's Mini-14 is okay because it has a conventional stock and thus fires friendly bullets.

Why are there no AK clones for sale with conventional stocks?

Dave

Please excuse me for trying to apply logic to something as emotional as this.

I dunno, I left Kalifornia before SB-23...

but I wonder if the standard, rear-triggered Saiga and Vepr AK variants would be acceptable out there, they don't have that conspicuously protruding pistol grip, or thumbhole stock, that AG Lockyer, Perata, and crew so adamently dislike.

HAH, they don't like things that go boom in general over there. The AK to them is the epitome of evil, plain and simple. I don't mean to make this sound as if I'm spewing rhetoric and negativity... it just seems as if it is purely a political move after the Hollywood shootout.

No rhyme nor reason, just because?

I have a Ruger Mini-14, I really like the rifle, reminds me of my dad's M-14. But the reason of legality of the Mini-14 was due to that Ruger complied with the state of CA-DOJ rules and favors, so the gun was ok for sale. Also the Dept. of Correction, some LEO, Government officials carried the Mini-14 5.56GB. So that is another plus for the Ruger Co.

The AK got a bad rap after the North Hollywood shooting, late night drive-by's, and over seas and local terrorist liked the AK. So the U.S. Federal and State governments seen the AK's, AR's as a threat, well anything that is black, with large capacity magazines is a threat to them. E'NUFF SAID.

-->DAVE 3006,

The federal & State governments see unarmed people less as a threat and armed people as a full threat. (They are scared). So the feds try to control what type of firearms we as citizens have. And by removing AK's, AR's, and any other threating firearms(to the feds)we as free people cannot protect ourselves against them.

Hope this representation helps you out of why the AK and varients are illegal for sale in California and soon the Nation.

It's because the Roberti-Roos AW act of 1989 was declared constitutional about the same time SB-23 went into effect and our illustrious governor, the wanker Gray Davis, and cronies added all "series" or in our terminology, "varients" of AK and AR rifles to the list of banned firearms.:barf:

This means that although a straight stocked Saiga has no evil features, it is a "series" copy of an AK, so it is not legal.

My understanding is that fairly recently, a judge declared this banning by "series" business unconstitutional, and that they must ban firearms by specific model because otherwise too much of the burden would be upon the owner.
