Now before you all yap on and on about Kalifornia, blah blah blah...I KNOW all that. I happen to live in a wonderful community, with a great job...so I gotta live with it. Thanks for your moving advice..
Now...Does anyone know much about the new law going into effect in CA in 2001. SB15 I think it is? It is the so-called "handgun safety" law that says only handguns that have submitted and passed their safety check can be sold in the state.
The tests must be done on each model and barrel length. A couple of troubling points. One of tests says that a gun must be able to fire 594 out of 600 rounds with no problems. No misfeeds, no jams, no stovepipes, etc. unless it can directly be attributed to an ammunition (bulged case, etc) or magazine defect. This seems like an unreasonable test for many guns!
Also, to date, only Ruger and Beretta have bothered to pay for some of their guns to be tested...any CA residents have any poop on whether other manufacturers seem to be leaning toward paying the $$ to get the tests done?
Also, finally...there is an exception to the law that says it excludes "private party transfers"....does this mean that if I buy a used gun, via an FFL, from an individual that I am exempted from the law? Why wouldn't people just buy from people out of state, then?
Any constructive info would be helpful and welcome...
