Feuer Urges Fingerprinting in Purchases of Guns

LOS ANGELES--City Councilman Mike Feuer said Wednesday that he would ask the City Council to require fingerprinting for anyone applying to buy a gun.

No date is set for the proposal to be reviewed but Feuer said he expects strong support from law enforcement.

If put into law, the councilman's proposal would require gun buyers to leave a thumbprint in addition to showing proper identification and filling out a form, he said.

The council member said he believes existing guns laws should be strictly enforced and that his proposal will aid efforts to restrict ex-convicts from buying firearms. Former convicts can get away with buying firearms by using fake identification, he added.

It's too late AND this guy is an idiot. I just moved to CA. To get a CA driver's license or ID you must provide a (digitaly scanned) fingerprint.

To buy a firearm here you must present your valid state ID or Driver's license, so, obviously, they already have your fingerprint.

The agency's aren't even aware of their own catch 22s. Here is my example.

I moved here six months ago and needed a drivers license. To get one you must surrender your current states DL...I couldn't because I travel by plane for work and can't be without a photo ID...so obviously I needed a passport. To get the passport I had to surrender my only copy of my birth certificate for processing, which took 8 weeks. I tried to get a CA ID in the meantime but needed that copy of my birth certificate to get it!

Bottom line is...this state's laws are F**ked...I finally went to get my DL and it's been three weeks and they haven't sent it to me yet.....

 ????

This is already standard practice in LA ? I've had to give thumbprints on all my gun purchases AND ammo purchases.

I tell ya, it's all those convicted felons with their fake ID's crowding the gun shops that have taken the fun out of gun shopping. Last gun I bought, I had to wait in line behind an obvious Mafia leg-breaker trying to bluff his way through the background check with his little sister's driver's license, while the icy-looking dude in dark shades behind me kept using his cell phone to close deals on contract hits in such a loud voice that I couldn't hear the subliminal messages in the store's muzak... ;)

Boy, and the anti's think we're the ones with paranoid delusions. What an exciting place their imagination is...

I've got so many fingerprint cards, fingerprints, DNA and life history on file that I should be able to walk in and buy ANYTHING I want whenever I want. I have fingerprints and DNA taken by the military (ex-AF), I have a fingerprint on file with GA DMV, I have a fingerprint taken for my GA CCW, I've had whole fingerprint cards filled out for my GA CCW, Military, Idaho CCW, TS clearence (once again took em for the military), and for each check that I've cashed in Virgina and Oregon. I'm probably in every "database" from the east to west coast. They know *who I am* so why do I have to give more fingerprints when applying for other things? Heck, I even have two sets of finger prints that I have for my records, this way I know who I am and I can't sneak around myself being someone else. Heck, if any LEO's or guberment types want to send me a free statement of my life, email me so I can "learn" who I really am.

I'm surprised that they don't make you go and get a blood test (for DNA) when you get a DL, CCW, business license, or any other type of license... but that may be in the near future. A good way to "extort" your cooperation don't you think. I do think that the ol' "microchip" angle isn't faring well, so they use direct DNA or fingerprinting to "keep you in line".

You know, I would like to find out who or what I really am... help me decide a path in life so any DMV, military intelligence, or guberment agency please email me so I can get a file explaining myself... thanks.

Let's see..... I have concealed weapons permits in both Oregon and Washington, yet each and every time I have made a purchase I have had to deal with the FBI instant reject system > I have been checked out more extensively than the FBI will do in an "instant" check, but those permits are worthless? I had to wait a week to purchase a rifle receiver, not even a whole weapon? I have not yet in twelve purchases experienced an "instant" check, only an instant wait.
