C & S's Safe-Fire-System(SFS)?

Excuse me, Safety Fast Shooting kit. Anyone take a chance on this yet? I like the concept well enough. Does the safety lever release with a positive "click", or softly like standard ones? Does the hammer bite under recoil? Did it change your felt trigger pull at all?

I would be interested in hearing from others that may have used it. It is an interesting concept. Somewhat spendy though.

The safety lever has a positive release, but then again so do my regular SA BHP's. If you want a safety to work right on a BHP get the C&S safety and go to a GOOD gunsmith to have it fitted. I agree that the factory slapped together version is mushy. The hammer spur is removed so it does not bite with a standard tang pistol. The worse for bites in the factory ring hammer because it comes back over the tang. C&S ring hammer and new skeleton hammer correct this for MOST people. The trigger pull is not the same 2.5 - 3 pounds that you get on a SA BHP with proper parts and a good smith. The question I want answered is why does this setup interest you? The only reason I could see putting this on a BHP is if you carry as a LEO and the department prohibits cocked and locked carry for PC reasons. Even this kit will frequently NOT circumvent department policy because it is usually written to require DA on the first shot. As far as I am concerned it answers a question that nobody asked. What circumstances are you in that make this an appealling option for your gun?

Some fair questions, Jeff. First, the normal HP set-up allows the hammer to act like a "hook", possibly grabbing the concealing garment, or in my case-the spare tire. :o The web of MY hand sometimes snares the hammer as I'm trying for a quick draw. De-horning and ring hammers cannot entirely eliminate this. :(

Second, the abysmal factory safety, as you've observed, is small and mushy. The levers of the kit look larger and more streamlined than that of the normal C&S safety.

Third, just because you are in plainclothes, or you're not a LEO, doesn't mean you are immune to gun grabs.
Having such a system may buy you valuable time to facilitate a retention technique, access a back-up gun, or bug outta there.
Like many things new on the market, I am just looking for a little feedback on it. :)

Thanks Victor! I liked it when I saw it, but could not for the life of me justify the expense. My gunsmith likes it too. If it is what you are looking for and has the features you want, it is a perfectly good system.
