C&R

Bought my Makarov, Sistema, Colt M1927 (M1911A1), and Mauser c96 on my CCR FFL and saved mucho denaro, best $30 I ever spent. Funny thing is, I got it originally to buy an M1 from the CMP and I never did!

If you don't want to be on any "alphabet soup" lists than don't do it.

If you cant keep decent transaction records don't do it.

If you like old guns, get it! :D

Its a great deal.

And, less understood, many of the vendors offer dealer discounts to C&R (03) license holders. Midway and Brownell's immediately come to mind. You can also get on CDNN's mailing list with an 03 license.

Well worth the time and money ($30 for 3 years.)

How would someone go about getting a C&R? Also, what types of handguns qualify for C&R, and what companies carry them?

A note of caution (I guess I am the only one who does this).

Check local laws before buying with a C&R license, especially handguns. In Maryland and some other states, only a dealer with a STATE license can legally receive regulated firearms (handguns and "assault" rifles) from another state. State licenses are issued only to dealers, not collectors.

The shippers look at the C&R license and will ship, but the recipient is in violation of the law. (And, yes, "VE HAF VAYS OF FINDINK OUDT".)

Don't flame me on this and don't bother us with blather about rights. I didn't write the laws and am only trying to keep naive people out of trouble. And no, an FFL DOES NOT give anyone the right to violate state or local law.

Thanks for the info, BB :)

I didn't know that either Jim, thanks for the info. Boy I'm glad I live in a free (more or less) state!
