So....I applied and have gone thru the typical waiting period 1-3 months.

Then I get this call yest from the ATF in my state of NJ. They told me they had to meet with me. I met them this morning to review rules and answer questions. Is this typical?

Jim

Heck, no, it is not typical. There must have been something about you that piqued their interest.

Have you ever held an FFL of any class (01, 03, 08, etc.) before?

C&R License

Might be "typical" in N.J. and maybe in Calif., Mass., N.Y. and a few of the other tough states.

Typo: *failed* states

Whatever asinine restrictions they have on their inhabitants, the C&R program is federal, so it's not their domain.

Meeting went well. Nice older lady. She kept stating that in NJ you can not have firearms sent to your home. Also talked about not selling more than 2 handguns in a week. Went over bound book regs. She is the one who comes to your home to investigate / look over your bound book.

Asked if I had children and pets in the house....kids I understand, but pet? I guess I will see if I pass her inspection.

Being in NJ is the reason she wanted to meet with you as you found out.
I have heard others simply got a phone call from ATF telling them that a C&R is basically worthless in NJ. They cancelled their apps over the phone.

All firearms in NJ (including black powder and airguns) must go through an 01 FFL (or 07 [possibly Griffin & Howe] or 08 [SARCO]).

The only legal use of a C&R in NJ is it allows you to possess certain examples of armor piercing ammunition.

I guess you still get your Midway discount.

Welcome JJ! Yes...she told me that she normally discourages people from getting the lisc. I'll take the Midway disc.
