c&r ffl address question

My dad received his c&r with the wrong city name on his license.
Called ATF and they apparently list the city based on the zip code.
They offered him a list of 3 or 4 cities to pick from, none of them the city he lived in. After being on hold for a while they told him that he must be wrong.
Only solution they could give him is to get the US Post Office to send a letter To the ATF correcting their system. Not likely.

Anybody else ever have this problem? Ideas?
He is concerned about his State I.D. not matching his FFL.

I didn't get my c&r until I moved out of the city, so I never had to figure this out luckily.

Thanks for any info

What city does the USPS say he lives in? Their website has a quick online search feature.

The USPS has some strange and arcane districting rules that affect ZIP codes. For reasons that cannot be explained by logic or medical science, certain areas of certain cities are served by post offices in other cities.

I'd go with that the ATF says if it matches the USPS. Most C&R firearm dealers don't ask for state ID; they're fine with just the C&R license.

Thanks for the link carguy,

He lives in a township that is not listed when I look up the zip code.
It has not been an issue until he tried to order ammo. I think it was at AIM that he had his ID on file, and later sent his C&R. Not a huge deal, they just questioned it. As long as the packages make it to him, shouldn't be a problem.

I Guess it seems to be a USPS issue.
