buying-selling-overagain?

Have any of you folks sold, tradded a gun and bought the same make, model again later in life?

I've done this with 1/2 dozen S&W j-frames, Berreta mod. 21's,
Glock mod.19's and Glock 26's , kahr k-40's and I should be picking up my Kahr MK-9 today which I let the first go 3yrs ago.

Most of my current weopontry consists of guns I had 3-5-7 years ago only to sell/trade them and then go back to them. This is a very good example of why you should only buy em' and not sell em'
Man this hole gun thing really is a sickness....:barf:

Yup---with all the Mark II's---Mini-14's---AR's---bolt action rifles---Blackhawks that I've bought and traded off---I'd be rich if I had just kept what I had in the first place.

It makes the pit of my stomach quiver to think about some of the things I've gotten rid of "knowing" I'd never want it again. Good god they're back on my wish list a year later.

A sickness is right.

I've traded my sporting clays gun 3 times. I've got it back again. I just need to realize I don't shoot anything else as well.

At this point I've got about $2200 invested in a $1500 Browning.

The only one I got rid of that I ended up w/ again is my Glock. Thankfully, used Glocks in really good condition are easy to find so I didn't really lose anything in the deal

Been doin that for over fifty years.

Now it has gotten where if I pick up sumpin I havent had one of for over a week, tis reliving my youth.:D

Tokarev 4 times
Makarov 3 times
Webley Mk IV 3 times
Firestar .45 3 times
NAA Guardian .32 2 times
Star BM 2 times (but never again)
GP-100 2 times
Ruger Vaquero 2 times
And I really, really want to get a stainless 5.5" Redhawk again.

I sold a CZ 75B about four years ago. I missed it severely shortly thereafter and have only recently purchased one again. I'm NEVER letting this one go.

Never completed this particular maneuver.

Have only sold one gun in my life (Sig P239). Went to the gun shop the next day with the proceeds plus a couple more dollars and bought a Glock 19 to replace it, as it was a planned event.

Like most others, I regret selling every gun I ever sold. I never gave it much thought, but I have been buying back many guns that I owned in my youth and foolishly sold. I recently bought a NIB Nylon 66 which had been my first new rifle when I was a kid on Christmas. I still have the first one, but at some point in my foolish past, I painted it camoflage. I recently bought a Ruger Standard Model Mk. 2 .22 auto pistol. I got my original Mk. 1 when I was 9 years old. I recently bought a Remington 788 in .223 Remington which was a replacement for it's twin that was my first centerfire rifle. I have been looking for a S&W Model 14 with the 8 3/8" barrel TT/TH for awhile now. That was my first centerfire handgun. I used to shoot 100 rounds every night after work (assuming the weather permitted) and would retire to the basement after dinner to load the 100 brass with my Lee Loader. I only owned 100 brass. I used bullets that came in gallon paint cans. After that, I think I will replace my Ruger Old Army. I disassembled it for cleaning one day and couldn't put it back together. I was working with a sledge hammer and shovel at the time and my hands were numb all the time (carpel tunnel syndrome). I couldn't feel the parts to get them back together. I sold it as is (apart in a box).
Now I am doing just the opposite. I woudn't think of selling a gun and if I really like it, I buy several.

I haven't yet but I will probably replace the two that I've sold soon.

I regretted trading my Ruger P89 within hours of doing so. I like the Charles Daly I traded for but they are so inexpensive I should have just bought it outright and held onto the Ruger. It was a good gun that I wasn't completely pleased with because I really wanted a .45 (now I really miss having a 9mm, and my wallet does even more :D, and the Ruger was a very good one). It will likely be one of my next 3 or 4 gun purchases (probably within the next 6 months at the longest).

The Taurus 82 in .38spl (my first handgun) was traded along with the Ruger for the CD. I figured that since I just bought a .357 and a .357 can shoot .38spl I didn't need it. I also convinced myself that I was inaccurate with it (I DO have trouble with all blued revolvers because I have trouble seeing the sights but that is nothing that a little paint couldn't fix). Now I want a .38 to go with the .357. I love Taurus revolvers and they are great deals so I will likely buy another. In fact, the dealer where I bought this one used (only about a year ago) still has several of its "brothers and sisters" and I may buy one of them- it was one of a group of them sold to the dealer by an armored car company. This may wait a little longer than the Ruger because I may satisfy my dedicated .38 fix with a J-frame S&W or Taurus 85 and also a used police S&W model 10 but since the model 82 is such a great deal I will eventually get another.

These two experiences and reading those of others has convinced me not to trade or sell guns that I am tired of or see no use for. The bug will bite again later (or I will "discover" a use/need for it) and it would be better to dust it off and take it out of storage than to have to buy it back at double what I got for my old one. I will still sell or trade my lemons and I will sell if it is financially necessary.

Yes, and have kicked myself ever since! A 1972 browning HP with adjustable sights for $275, man what a beauty! But I've consoled myself since with several new BHP's !! (I feel better now, but not quite totally cured, so anyone not happy with their BHP let me know ???:D
