having over 6 shots is important to me, as is quality of make, and feel of the gun

anyone else got any suggestions of a good gun with a 6 - 7 inch barrel ONLY with at least 7 shots

links are appreciated thanks

I had one and sold it to fund a S&W and a Marlin. It was a good gun, trigger was good, accuracy was good, sights were good, 7 shots????. My son really liked the ribber grips, I did not really care, except that they are sticky and show during CCW. S&W makes a 686 plus L frame with 7 shots, and a few in the 627 line that have 8 shots but they are getting large.

I traded my tracker off the fund a Marlin 1894c and have a S&W 586 instead. My 586 is more accurate, has a better trugger, and better sights. The Taurus tracker sights have a orange sticker on them that looks :barf: tacky

SOP for someone in your situation is one of two guns: the S&W 686 or the Ruger GP100. Since you specify more than 6 (which, you should know, will rather severely limit your options for speedloaders, if that matters to you), the standard by which your choices will be judged is the 686+, seen

HERE.

The S&W will cost you a little more, but is also the gold standard for production mid-sized 357's, for good reasons. It doesn't have the ports of the Taurus, but in a 357 of this size, ports are profoundly unnecessary. The heavy, full-lug barrel will make even potent 357's feel quite tame. The main ergonomic difference between the Taurus and the S&W will be in the trigger pull; but that's no small matter in a revolver--it's everything.

If you can't afford the S&W, the Taurus will *probably* be just fine--lots of folks have Tauri and like them; but problems do arise, and generally it sounds like they're slower/harder to get resolved with Taurus than any problem which might arise (unlikely) with a 686.

I had Taurus Tracker 455 in 45acp. Great gun. Built just as good as any new Smith and Wesson out there. Totally flawless operation, fit and finish were great.

S&W 686, 7 shot!
I actually only have the 6 shooter, but that's only because the 7 was out of stock the day I was at the local shop.

If I were gonna get one of the big Taurus revolvers in a non .44 caliber, I would opt for the eight shot version with a four inch barrel. The six incher just feels like you are aiming a wheelbarrel.

WarHammer . . .

There must be at least a thousand THR and TFL threads re this precise topic - you may wish to check the archives for voluminous information. I subscribe to the frequent advice of many others: You cannot go wrong with either a Ruger GP-100 series or a Smith L Frame (primarily, these days, a 686). Both the GP-100 and the 686 are truly outstanding firearms.

I own two GP-100s and a 686. If I were forced to have only one medium-frame .357 revolver, I would retain my Ruger KGP-141 (four-inch barrel, stainless, full-underlug, micrometer adjustable rear sight, GP-100).

i've decided to get this one... so i'll let you know how it works out

Im in Australia btw, and I just found out that we can actually own a 4 inch barrel on 357 magnums, was previously restricted to 6 inches I believe (our gun laws are tighter than many countries)

You made a much better choice buying the Smith instead of the Taurus. I had a Taurus .38 Ultralight that the cylinder kept jamming up on. Their "Lifetime" warranty was BS. You'll spend more than the cost of the gun sending it back to them before the ever repair the gun satisfactorally or replace it.

Now, all my revolvers are Smiths, except for a few Ruger SA's and an old Colt Police Positive.
