Buying a savage hunting PKG for the action ?

I posted a related topic on "Art of the rifle" ; I am starting plans for an F class rifle for my son . I am thinking a 6BR on a laminated Fclass / benchrest type stock. 1st things 1st ; I need an action . I surfed auction arms and gunsamerica; surprisingly slim pickins for "donor rifles " I want the action and trigger. So I've been noticing all these package deals for Savage hunting rifles . What would be pros/cons of buying a 308 w/ accutrigger and a low budget scope and using that action ( I can use the scope on a different project)? Is the 'smithing worse than say remington ( I don't hold much hope of finding a Winchester ) . Isn't it possible to buy Savage rifle barrels pre chambered at least in some circumstances? I like the accu-trigger ; I think it's as good a mass market trigger as you can get now. How's the action ? opinions wanted please ....Thanks.
