Buying a Marlin Xs7 bolt 308, Post your experience?

I'd say a quality and very safe gun. Customer brought me an XL7 30/06 with the bolt locked shut on a fired round. Got it loose and the primer was vaporized and the base was expanded from .466" factory to .492' and had quite a ridge. Seems his 16yr old son was doing some handloading on his own. Checked the gun out thoroughly and everything was still well within specs. Buy and enjoy. Goatwhiskers the Elder
 
I have a long action version (XL7) of that rifle in .270 and it's a good shooter and a great value. I've yet to hear complaints about either model. They have nice triggers for a factory job.
 
I have the XS7 in 7mm-08 and it is a good lightweight rifle. A couple of sharp plastic "edges" near the checkering but nothing major. Good accuracy with factory load. Even better with handloads. Definitely recommend for a no-nonsense hunting rifle. What price are they asking for them now?
 
My XL7 out shoots every rifle I own, except my .220 Swift Ruger M77 V/T.

It was engineered to be a great rifle at a low price point - not a cheap rifle like some of the other brands...
 
My dad has one in .243 and likes it quite a bit. I've played around with it some,as well as with a friend's .270 XL7 and a few others I've shot at the range.
I've seen one failure with a Marlin X series bolt rifle: a .270 XL7 that sheared its extractor claw off.
Accuracy on the XL7s and XS7s that I've shot at the range has been pretty much on par with most bolt actions: 1.3-1.8" at 100yds benched with inexpensive Remington Corelokt or Winchester Power Point ammo.

They're a good rifle for the money.

I got one in .243. It will shoot sub MOA all day long with 95gr Federal fusion ammo. IMO it's the best rifle out there for the money.
 
Great Gun For Money

Great gun for the money is very lightweight nice smooth bolt has a remington style flat bolt which I like I debated between this and the savage edge and decided after trying both that this is the better gun got it in .308
