Since I don't own one I've taken to the thought of buying a Glock Model #27 .40.
Anyone here own one? What are your thoughts and experiences? I looked at one at my local
emporium the other week. Have been giving it some thought. I believe the price tag said $489. ? Good price?
It was just laying there crying  Buy Me, Buy Me, Honest it was I heard it :D

All your thoughts are appreciated :)
Thanks in advance :)

Without night sights, $489 seems pretty good (they retail for $600 in my neck of the woods). With night sights, buy 3 or 4 at that price.

Recoil's pretty snappy with the short grip, and you may find the grooved trigger is hard on your finger. You can replace it really easily, though.

Thanks Jeff,Now that you mention the price,Something comes to mind this could be a factory reconditioned gun. This dealer had told me in the past that he handled those as well as new. Still carries the the same warranty as new. :)

$489 is a good price for new, so-so price for factory refurb. I havent seen refurb 27s around here but the refurb 23 and 22 are $400 when available IIRC. FWIW the refurbs are as a good as new if you are talking about a shooter.

The 27 is a great gun. The best way to describe it is to say that that 27 is a subcompact that shoots like a full size gun.
Recoil can be pearky with full power loads but is a non-event for _anyone_ whos been properly trained or is willing to learn/practice. I tried to induce a limp wrist failure and couldent (week hand, one finger and thumb, bent wrist and elbow; flawless). I've found it to be a great belt carry gun. IMO its too big (thick) for most pocket and ankle carry situations. Too thick for tuckable holsters too.

I went with the Glock 33. I have a .40 and decided to go for .357 Sig. I love the gun and the caliber. I also suggest the plus one extension by Pierce, or Scherer. I prefer the latter due to my large hands. I understand that the .40 is prone to KB, but I recently had bullet setback in some Triton ammo with the .357 Sig. I think that could have caused a bit of a mess had I not discovered it. Of course the difference between the 27 and 33 is just a barrel change.

Locknload;

I own several Glock 40 S&W's including a G27. If you are satisfied with the caliber, then the G27 makes an ideal carry gun. it is quite concealable and comfortable to carry IWB. Mine is fitted with +1 extensions on the magazines that give you a total of 10 rounds in the mag and a better grip.

Because the 40 S&W is a high pressure round the recoil is rather snappy in a small gun. You will need some practice if you are used to a lesser caliber or a larger gun. FYI my G27 is as accurate as any Glock I own at 15 yards from a bench and sandbags, including my G35. Of course at extended ranges, the longer sight plane takes over, but the G27 was never designed for target shooting.

Hey, Thanks loads guys, I now may have to go and take a serious look at this thing. I'm use to the .40 but in the Beretta Cougar.I don't know about the night sights but I'm pretty sure it had the +1 extension on it. For all I know it may have been a trade in? I didn't look that close or ask about it when I first saw it,I have enough problems with getting my own ideas if you know what I mean? I was thinking of this as a carry piece. So maybe it just might find a new home :)

If this is your first Glock you should start burning it into your brain now.

Finger off the trigger till the sights are on target.

Remember that and it will be a long and happy relationship.

I'll be getting a G27 and will be going with the Pierce extenders also. Had one before, and it was great. It was as accurate as my model 23 -- though not accurate as my Sig P239 in .40. The advantage of the G27 is the ease of carrying, particularly in Docker type pants vs jeans, which I quit wearing.
I noticed one shop in Northern California had retail of $600 plus the 7.5% sales tax. Alternative: buy thru internet, possibly save $100, avoid tax, but pay for shipping amd would not be able to view cept via photo, if available. Also, I hear Uncle Mikes pocket holster works well. Good luck with your purchase.

Amen to that George ;)

I have owned a G27 now for only several weeks but I am impressed with it. As a matter of fact I took it to the range again yesterday. Reliability has been 100% thru about 600rds. Accuracy has been so good that it makes me wonder if I should keep my G19 as I now see no advantage to the larger Glocks. I also have the G26 and have seen the same results except accuracy has been even better!
