I'm new at this so bear with me -
I want to take a step up -
I've got an old Auto-Ordnance 1911.
I can sell it for $300. and buy a new Chas Daly target for $700. or so. Or would it be wiser to put the $400. in the Thompson ?

Certainly sell it and start over, but if you're looking at dropping $700, do yourself a huge favor and bypass the Daly in favor of an offering from Kimber, Springfield, or Colt.

Do not walk...RUN and sell the Auto O!

Then buy a Springfield Full Size Loaded and have a good smith tune the gun. Your $750 investment will make you smile at the range.

From what I've heard Shmackey is right,

"Certainly sell it and start over, but if you're looking at dropping $700, do yourself a huge favor and bypass the Daly in favor of an offering from Kimber, Springfield, or Colt."

"Drop the Thompson and step away from the Daly!"
Think about the Kimber, or Go Springfield! This one was $600.00:p

Thanx to all that

have replied.
I now see the the light.
I have a Kimber Pro Carry but I want a 5'' .45apc to punch holes in paper,
Guess it's time to start rolling up my pennies.

And another $200 can turn it into something like this:

As the others have stated, out of the frying pan and into the fire with a lateral move to a CD. Go look at Springfield,Colt and Kimbers' latest offerings and make Your choice.tom.

I am sure I would look at an entry level Kimber. Why? I own a Custom Compact that has been flawless. Option B is to look fork a Norinco 1911A1 if you can find one. Regards, Richard
