Buy another Colt SAA?

I've become increasingly convinced that Colt cannot endure for much longer and will surely be bankrupt soon, and probably for good.

That raises a question for me. I have a 7 1/2-inch SAA that I enjoy a great deal, and I've toyed with the idea of getting a second one like it to make what for me would be the classic two-gun rig. I own and use several of the Italian clones and they have their place, but none of them is a Colt. These days, excellent used SAAs are in excess of $1000 (at least here in NC) and new ones are in the $1300-$1700 range. Yeah, it's ridiculous. But I have a feeling that if I don't buy one now, I'll really be kicking myself in a year or two when Colt is out of business and even used SAAs cost $2000 or so.
I suspect I should get one now.

Comments? Rebuttals? Suggestions? (And, no, I am not going to buy a Cowboy.)

For those who have an opportunity to buy another Colt SAA, I would recommend doing so. Even if Colt's stays in business, IMHO Colt's firearms and especially the SAA are probably the world's leading firearms collectibles. I don't know if they'll hit $2,000 in a year or two, but it does seem like they're always going up in price.

As far as kicking oneself is concerned, I look back on the time not too long ago when new SAAs were available for $450 and wish I had gone for them then.

Hock the farm, pawn the truck, cut the kids rations, but buy every SAA you can lay hands upon as I too believe they're on their last legs. Now understand I've been wrong before [ the one '66 I ain't heard the end of yet] but COLT has such a severe case of rectal/cranial inversion I just don't see how they can keep from sufficating for good. How in the world could ANYBODY screw up a company with the name...COLT? Geesh, GMAB!

In many cases buying a Colt SAA is better than money in the bank. Not only does it increase in value but you get to shoot it and enjoy it.
For the last couple of months I have been buying a couple of Colt SAA's.
One a Sheriffs model in .44-40 and the other a .45 Colt 7 1/2 inch barrel. Enjoy them both!
No, the Sheriffs model is not first generation.
Buy and enjoy them.

Guys I remember when single action armys were $125.00 back in the 60s. But bucks were hard to come by and I never bought one. If you are into them that heavily, then go for it and buy another one while you still can, or you will be eternally sorry.

Hi, 7th Fleet,

You might not have bought one but I got some.
Just sold one for $1050. I could probably have done as well with a mutual fund (and I did that too) but you can't shoot a mutual fund.

I bought two 7 1/2 Colts in .357 just two and one half years ago. I can not believe how much folks are asking for them now. A combination of cutbacks at Colt and the fever of cowboy action shooting has driven the price of these beauties up. If you can afford it, yes get another Colt SAA.

If you can "afford" it, do it. Especially since you like them a lot. You can always get your money out in a flash if you change your mind. But like the fine older guns, you may not be able to buy one at any affordable price in the future. (I think I just talked myself into buying one... let's see, 45 cal... now how long a barrel???)
