But what about the P-11?

When I first got into handguns, I swore I would never get a Kel-tec. They just didn't look like a quality weapon. Since then, the testimonials on here have convinced me other wise.

I was at the gunshop today for my bi-weekly fondling session(sometimes I think looking at and fondling new guns is more fun than shooting them). Anyway, the had a used P-11 in stock for $200. I have to admit I was impressed by how small it was and how light it was.

So, we seem to have beaten the P-32 into the ground around here, but my searches didn't turn up nearly as much on the P-11. Any one out there feel strongly, either yay or nay, about this gun?

I've had relatively bad luck with my P-11... so I traded it. The trigger wasn't that bad, it weighed next to nothing and there's nothing easier to carry;

BUT
2-5 times per mag would leave the spent casing in the chamber after firing and therefore jam up the next round. Honestly, I think they are probably good guns, but mine may have just been the lemon. I didn't have the patience to send it off for repair... so I traded up (WAY UP) to an awsome Glock 27. Absolutely no regrets.

FWIW: I noted that the Kel-Tec ran more smoothly with shorter OAL 9mm rounds.

Maybe you should try that search feature again. This topic has been covered about 10 skillion times. But FWIW I wouldn`t part with my P-11. Marcus

The only reason there is alot of talk about the P-32 is because their has been a great deal of talk about the P-11. I paid $190 for my used one and lately it's the only gun I've been shooting at the range. From all aspects it is a great gun.

I luv the P32, and hate the P11

The trigger pull on the P11 is very very heavy, but the P32 is a good bit lighter.

For me, the P32 is actually a lot more accurate than the P11.

I just bought my second P-11 yesterday (sold the first one for no good reason and regretted it), put a couple of drops of oil in the right places while standing at the counter, then took it into the range and put 100 flawless rounds through it.

For the price, even if you have to tweak it, it is a great little gun.

$200 for a used one would be a bit high around here unless it was practically new and not fired much. I've seen new ones for $210 - 230. In some parts of the country, new ones are $250-260 so $200 wouldn't be a bad price in that case.

Mine functions fine. No jams in around 500 rounds. fmj, silvertips (OUCH) and hydrashoks.

However, I do have accuracy issues, but I'm told by all the dudes on KTOG.org that it's me getting accustomed to the trigger pull.

They may be right. It does fit nicely in my ankle holster.

Do get the little rubber attachments for the magazine that add a finger to wrap around the grip. AND the trigger shoe is nice too.

If buying.......make sure.........

You get a very recently-manufactured serial #. The newer ones show much better quality control than the older models. I owned a very early example which had problems but I frankly would not hesitate to buy a newer one. I mean 10+1 rounds, very compact, light 15oz empty weight, the 9mm round is an inexpensive good performer, and an excellent factory warranty are good plusses. Just remember, they are basically self-defense guns, not target pistols so the long D/A trigger pull takes some practice.

I like mine

I purchased a like-new P-11 12-months ago. Both factory mags & all my full-capacity 15-round S&W 59-series mags work great in the gun. Have never had a single solitary jam.

Trigger pull is heavier than I'd like--knowing that up front makes it an especially-safe handgun.

Fits in my back pocket or the fanny pack so is convenient to carry.

The best cure I have found for the trigger pull is the optional trigger shoe offered by Kel-tec. It really cuts down on the heavy feeling, probably just because it spreads the effort over a wider surface.

I like mine, too

Mine's been a favorite for about a year. My primary carry gun. Carries very easliy because of the size and weight.

My trigger smoothed up nicely with a little Mil-Tec oil on the transfer bar, and some dry-firing (use a snap cap!) Boughtit used, so maybe the prior owner worked on it?

Accuracy? Its not quite as good as my BHP at 25 yards, but much better than I thought it would be. I can do 3" groups at 15 yards pretty regularly. I even tried it at 100 yards. About 2-foot groups? I was shooting a junk real estate sign, seated position. Bench resting might yield 1 foot groups?

Yes the trigger takes some getting used to if all you've shot is SA. But DA users should find it easy to master. The KT trigger is not as nice a as Glock's, but it is no worse than many DA revolvers, and better than many DAO semi's.

I bought my P-11 a couple of years ago for my first handgun purchase. I got used to the trigger pull; but I know that alot of my friends that went shooting with me, shot it and didn't like the trigger. The only problems I had with the gun was FTE some alumminum cased rounds (don't remember the brand; bought them because they were cheap). But after that first time with the cheap ammo, I went to Winchesters and had no problems at all. I think that the worst thing about the gun is the long trigger pull. It is really noticeable after shooting my glock. All and all though I like mine and will probably keep it around as a back up. Who knows, I may eventually send it in for a "fluff and buff" to make it that much better.
