Busy week of buying for me

Well, I won a Loaded Model 1911 springer from GB last week for only $505 and I picked it up yesterday and today I was hitting the local shops to find some wilson ETM or 47D mags (no luck , just McCorrmick's that were way over priced).

At one shop that is know for extremely high prices I didnt find any mags, but did look over a correct grade Winchester M1 garand that he had for a decent 1100 and it was out of my price range, but as I was letting the gun sit on the display case I noticed a ruger 22/45 with 4" heavy barrel with target sights sitting off to the side in the case all by itself. I asked to look at it and i noticed a discount sticker on it. Turned out it was a used model that the guy bought and then put a few hundred rounds thru it and traded it back in for Hammerli target pistol. Get this, the price was $230 cash and included everything that it comes from the factory with, including the spare mag that was unused.

I had been looking for a ruger mkIII or 22/45 for awhile, but never found a decent priced used model, or a new model at a decent price (the same shop had an identical brand new model for $375 in the new guns case).

So, i whipped out some cash to hold it and then ran to the ATM and pulled out the remaining cash.

I am very happy and have 2 new pistols to try out next weekend at the monthly shoot.

Pics to follow.

Actually, I think $1100 for a matching parts Winchester M-1 isn't unreasonable.

As for the 22/45, I don't know if that's fair now or not. When I bought mine new about 5 years ago that's about what I paid.

But congrats on the new Ruger! You should find it to be a very accurate shooter with the heavy barrel, and the adjustable sights aren't bad either.

forgot something

$1100 sounds like a good price for the Winchester M1.

A Springfield correct grade goes for $1100, and Winchester always goes for a few hundred dollars more, being higher quality and all.

Gumpa, yeah you can get one for half that service grade or lower, and probably made at H&R or Springfield. You can get one from CMP for $345 but its a D&C rifle, meaning the firing pin is welded and the barrel is plugged and all that. :D

EDIT: Congrats on your other purchases though. Can't wait to hear how the Springfield 1911 shoots, I'm looking for one soon. :D

Not "higher quality", fewer made. The high price is purely collector appeal.

I like how people say "won" instead of "bought" a gun on gunbroker. :D

FWIW I would rather have a Springer M1 too.

the springfield loaded model goes for a lot more here and online. i saved about $245 over one on GB and about $350 over one around here.

the ruger i saved like i said earlier afound $100 over a new one (my locally prices are crazy)

the M1 is a good deal since it is a winchester that is correct grade in almost unissed shape and has a barrel with ME and TE that is in brand new specs.... so yes 1100 is a good price and came with a case of the greek GXP on en blocs.

also, i have several CMP m1 garands, a 1903A3 and 2 m1 carbines all from CMP (I am a vet and have a C&R so i qualified way back when) and all are service or correct grade.

this correct grade (i would rate it a really high correct grade) would easily go for $1100 or more on GB or the other sites.

here are pics of the recent purchases and I included my Taurus Judge Public Defender that I picked up in December (along with lots of 45lc and 410 ammo and a blackhawk holster for only $400 brand new never shot from a buddy)

I added the Mil-Tac 1* G10 grips to the Springfield (it had the hogue wrap arounds). Thanks to IZInterrogator on the forum for the screaming deal he gave me (he is local here and can attest to the crazy local prices on guns). Part of the problem is that this is a military town that has a lot of new troops at tech school with lots of disposable income and the gun shops and car shops really take advantage of them.
