Business travel to Maryland. What's allowed?

I have done some searching and I understand I can't carry open or concealed but that transport of unloaded handguns in locked trunk is legal when going to/from a shooting range. But what I haven't found yet are questions like these:
- will I be allowed to shoot at an indoor range as a non-resident?

- will I be allowed to rent guns as a non-resident? (I have found one range that has a policy of not renting to lone shooters, I assume for suicide prevention, but doesn't mention non-residents)

- assuming I can take my guns and shoot them, what do I do with them during the day while working or at night in a hotel?
 
If I'm not mistaken you're not allowed to take your handguns with you to Maryland. The whole unloaded, locked in the trunk thing is if you're passing through and not stopping other than food and fuel.
 
Leave your guns at home. You are not allowed to bring them into the state, except and unless you are merely passing through the state to another destination. An overnight stay makes your trip a destination trip, you cannot legally bring a gun, even locked up in your car trunk.

Renting a gun is going to be much cheaper than a felony.

In Maryland? In D.C., yes (although I've read they've changed that law), but I've never heard that about Maryland.
