Bush's wish to begin transition thwarted

In his speech tonight, George W. said he planned to begin the transition period and named Dick Cheney to head that endeavor. However, the Clinton-appointed head of the GSA has said he will not turn over the keys to the leased office space or authorize release of the $5,000,000 federals monies to fund the transition.

We apparently have not heard from all the players yet.

This indicates to me, that the Democrats are, indeed, attempting a coup ala the best in the Banana Republic fashion. Rep. Nadler (D-NY) stated..."...a whiff of fascism in the air." Now tell me which party practices fascism?

Thoust pinheads, morons and lurking Democrats and Liberals....look up the definition....its you! You, indeed, are loathesome creatures

There are a few electors who are not required to vote the same way as their state's popular vote. I am sure that these electors are going to be pressured heavily in the days to come.

Our job is never done.

I'll send Bush my handiman

Joe is very good at switching locks and making new keys...
I'll send Joe over to Washington DC right away.

Electors are and will be pressured to vote Gore, contrary to the popular vote of their state, but I stongly doubt that any would seriously consider doing so. With the tensions surrounding this election, vote fraud, "Bush or Revolution" rhetoric, etc...voting against the popular vote of your state would be literal suicide, a la "with extreme prejudice". Not that it would happen, but it has to be in the minds of the electors at this time.

Change not to only!

Should not this be :

If your [only] a LITTLE UPSET with the way the world is
going, your not paying attention???

Just my opinion, ernest2

We must remember that Gore and Clinton are fighting for their freedom, freedom from jail. They have no choice but to win this election or risk going to jail once an honest administration is put into place. Ever wonder what Gore wanted to talk to Bush about, twice now? I’ll bet that he has seen the writing on the walls and wanted to cut a deal….. ie… I’ll concede if you promise not to prosecute our past transgressions.

No one s/b suprised

There's a case (brought by Bush) pending in the SCOTUS for hearing on Friday. Did anyone really think ol' Bill would turn over $5 mil because GWB said "I won" ? It would be the ultimate slap to Gore and his team, and Bill's not man enuff to do that. He will wait till Friday, at least.

If the SC rules for Bush, that's all she wrote. If not, who knows what'll happen next.

I agree ... this is not surprising. Even as I feel, if I was in charge of those funds, I wouldn't disburse them. There is clearly some ways to go before it would be reasonable to cut loose millions of dollars to ... which party?

Regards from AZ

C.R.Sam, I won't be surprised if there are a host of private investigators working feverishly to find dirt on some electors so they can be blackmailed into switching there vote.
